How Do I Apply for Federal Student Aid?
Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) is a convenient online process.
Obtain an FSA ID
Before you can fill out the FAFSA, you need to obtain your FSA ID online at studentaid.gov. You’ll actually need this number to:
- File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Review and make corrections to your Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Monitor any federal loans that you receive.
Tip: If you are a dependent, a parent should also request a PIN, as it can be used as their electronic signature on the FAFSA.
Complete the FAFSA
You can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. When completing your FAFSA or adding Sessions College, please use our school code: 042176.
Receive Your SAR
Within 3-5 days you should receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) by e-mail. The SAR contains your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), the number used in determining your eligibility for Federal student aid. Sessions College will receive an ISIR (Institutional Student Information Report) that will enable your eligibility and aid package to be determined.
What If I Already Completed the FAFSA?
No problem; you will just need to add Sessions College to your list of schools on your online FAFSA.
- Login at fafsa.ed.gov with your FSA ID.
- Follow the step-by-step instructions for making a correction.
- If you are a dependent, a parent should also request a FSA ID.
When Should I Complete My Sessions College Application?
Don’t delay! If you are applying for Federal Student Aid, plan to complete your Sessions College application and FAFSA at least 4-6 weeks prior to the beginning of semester, to allow sufficient time for application processing.
Remember: Degree program applications require an essay, 5-10 samples of your art and design work, and transcripts from your high school and any colleges attended. While transcripts may take 2-3 weeks to assemble, our online application starts the ball rolling and can be completed in less than 10 minutes.
