Free Font Friday: Morena
by Taylor Slattery | October 31, 2019
Because the letterforms are so lean, they allow for large type overlays without obstructing the contents behind, leading to interesting design opportunities for posters, advertisements or editorials. It would also make for a great choice for hero images that pertain to fashion. Morena feels high-end, like it belongs with an elegant piece of tech or a beauty product. In fact, if you’ve ever been in a salon, one look at this font and you can practically smell it. It feels distant yet familiar, like the type on a hair product you’ve been using for so long that you don’t even notice it’s packaging anymore.
After a quick Google search I see that in several languages, Morena actually means brunette. That makes a lot of sense. Morena is free for personal and commercial use and you can find it here.
