Memory Print & Play Font Board Game
by Margaret Penney | August 9, 2017
Eugene Sadko, font expert and manager of the unique Rentafont font rental business, teamed up with Macosh Design to create a highly imaginative and expertly designed memory board game out of fonts. One part origami, one part art — the game can be played and also admired. The Memory Game is a great way to visually learn about fonts and includes twenty-four cards with descriptions of the fonts on each one. The game also includes a guide to ten font characteristics and their use in design.
Macosh Design had a number of requirements for the fonts for the game, which Sadko details also on his Medium blog.
- All twenty-three fonts must have obvious differences noticeable to designers and also children.
- Fonts should evoke the most vivid associations and have different kinds of mood, age, gender, and national coloring.
- In order for the fonts to be truly educational they should present all the main artistic styles of European civilization.
- The collection should contain new as well as old classic fonts like Futura.
