Sessions College Launches Online BFA Programs

Sessions College, a pioneer in online education and the first accredited online school in design, today announced its first approved bachelor’s degree program—a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design. Additional BFA programs in digital photography and illustration are in development. The 120-credit programs can be completed in 10 semesters or 3.3 years.

True to its mission of preparing students for the work place, Sessions developed a unique educational paradigm that ensures its graduates can conceptualize and present creative briefs, can produce solutions to business problems, and can demonstrate mastery of the technical tools and design principles by mean of a portfolio of work of depth and quality.

Sessions College consistently focuses on providing students with engaging, industry-relevant courses and programs to help them to develop and advance their creative voice. The new BFA program will be innovatively structured and delivered.

During the first two years of the program, students will establish a firm foundation in the technical, design, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills required by employers in creative industries. In year three, working closely with a faculty advisor, they will develop a customized educational plan to help them craft a portfolio of work to achieve their creative goals. As part of the program, students will study professional practices and gain invaluable work experience.

According to Federal data, there are 281,500 graphic designers in the United States, with 21% of them working on a self-employed basis.
